Xinhua, Munich, November 15 (Reporter: Zhu Sheng) The worst power cut to hit Munich in 20 years threw the southern German city into early morning chaos on November 15th. The morning rush hour traffic was seriously affected.

The Munich Public Utility Company said the power cut occurred around 7 am. Half of the city and surrounding towns were affected. Most blackout areas had to wait for an hour to regain the power. The cause remained unconfirmed.

The city's metro and subway networks were delayed. Trams stopped working as traffic lights cut out. Morning rush hour traffic was seriously affected. Some hospitals had to use emergency power supply. Many people were stuck in lifts.

Some Munich citizens were concerned that blackouts were about to happen in the future as the government plans use more renewables to replace chemical and nuclear power.
